INTRODUCTION TO ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY

9th - 11th August 2019

We are thrilled to be working with talented Northumberland photographer Jamie Stewart, to offer some fantastic Astrophotography breaks under the magnificent Northumberland International Dark Sky Park; officially the best place in England to star gaze.

August's event, arranged to coincide with the Perseids meteor shower will start with a one hour talk, covering topics such as camera settings, how to focus in the dark, composition tips and picture editing.

Weather permitting, you will then spend two hours outside taking pictures of the Milky Way.  On this weekend, the Perseids meteor shower will be nearing its peak with up to 100 meteors an hour, and Jupiter will be in close alignment with the moon. This will allow participants to learn and try several different techniques.

In total, you will receive 3 hours tuition, in an intimate group of no more than six people.  The session will either be split over both nights, or all one night, depending on the weather.

Our small group sessions allow you to receive personalised tuition and plenty of time with Jamie, learning all sorts of new skills.

This weekend is designed for beginners, or those with a little experience so no previous knowledge of Astrophotography is required.

The event will go ahead in any weather conditions. In the case of poor weather / cloudy skies, you will have the chance to try out your equipment and learn editing and other skills in our communal, Astrophotography chill-out tent.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

- A camera with Manual mode, preferably a DSLR or Mirrorless camera with interchangeable lens

- A wide angle lens 24mm or equivalent which is F2.8 – F4

- A tripod

- A telephoto lens would be an advantage but not essential
