Frequently asked questions

Where are your tents situated?

We are located at High House Farm near the beautiful Northumbrian village of Matfen. High House Farm is a 150 acre working farm, set right on Hadrian's Wall. Enjoy the onsite restaurant and bar* with it's reputation for homemade dishes and an emphasis on local produce and explore the brewery, sampling the 18 local beers brewed right on site at the farm. The historic town of Corbridge; with it's beautiful, independent shops, quanit tea rooms, traditional pubs and long riverside walks is just 5 miles away. The gorgeous market town of Hexham is just a 20 minute drive away. In less than an hour, you could be in the wild Northumberland National Park, magical Kielder Forest, the stunning Scottish Borders, enchanting Alnwick Castle and Gardens and our best kept secret - the incredible beaches of Northumberland, dotted with castles and wildlife. Our beautiful Bells can also come to you! We can set up your glamping village at a North East venue of your choice. We bring your whole village and furnishings; setting up quickly and without fuss, then taking down at the end of your stay.

Are campfires allowed?

From October 2020, we provide a firepit for each Bell so you can enjoy your evenings in the lovely outdoors. Please bring kindling / wood / lighters (plus marshmallows or s'mores!) Your firepit should be kept a minimum of 3 metres from your Bell when lit. For private events, each venue will have their own rules on camp fires.

Can my dog come?

Our Bells are for all the family and well behaved dogs are welcome at High House Farm. Your furry friend must be kept on a lead around any animals on the farm. We ask that they are not allowed on any furniture and that they are dried before entering the tent.

What's included in our Bell Tent hire?

Our aim is to provide you with a Glamping experience without any of the hassle or huge kit list normally associated with these kinds of stay!
Your beautiful Bell comes complete with a real bed (no sleeping on the floor at Dark Sky Glamping!), cosy bed linen, fluffy rugs, warm blankets, twinkly lights and gorgeous outdoor furniture for sitting out under the stars. We provide a small stove for your morning cuppa, a kettle, a cool box and a BBQ. From October 2020, your Bell will have a heater and a firepit for evenings under the stars. If you want to check if anything in particular is available, please don't hesitate to contact us.

What are your check in and out times?

Our general rule is that we will have your Bell ready for you at 3pm on your arrival day. You can check out any time until 11am on your day of departure. We may be able to be flexible with these times; please ask us if an early check in or late check out is available for you.

Can I pay a deposit for my booking?

Of course! Our booking system takes a 25% deposit to secure your date. You will receive an invoice for your balance by email around a week before your arrival. Please note that your deposit is non-refundable. Please ensure you have adequate insurance to cover cancellation by yourselves.

What type of beds can we expect?

We use 'proper' beds with a frame and comfy mattress. There's no sleeping on the floor with Dark Sky Glamping! Our single beds are folding foam beds which fold away as chairs during the day to give you extra seating and space.

What if bad weather is forecast during our stay?

We will only cancel your booking if we feel there is a danger to your safety during your stay; for example in extremely high winds. We do not take decisions like these lightly, but we will always put your safety first. Otherwise, please pack clothing and any extras according to the forecast so you're well prepared for anything the great British weather throws at you!
