19th - 21st October 2018 (future dates tbc)

Be transported away from the hustle and bustle of everyday, stressful life for a break of outdoor crafty glamping in magical woodland at Langley, near Hexham.

Feel your stresses and strains melt away while you reconnect with nature in a stunning enchanted woodland setting.  Immerse  yourself in the simple joys of nature and the elements, spending quality time with your family and friends, feeling the freedom to roam and creating magical memories.  Soak up the pretty autumn light, listen to the fascinating woodland sounds and absorb the warmth of the camp fire.  By tuning out for a weekend, you feel the catharsis that simple, outdoor living can bring.

It's incredible how quickly the kids forget about their phones and tablets once they get acquainted with trees, ditches, bugs, dens and other like minded children.  For younger kids, the taste of freedom that roaming in the woods brings is a buzz, a glimpse of independence.

Here's what you can expect from your bushcraft break in the woods...

Arrive on Friday afternoon and be welcomed to your beautiful bell tent, fully furnished and complete with wood burning stove (full instructions given).  Take a guided walk around the woodland followed by some camp fire cooking and a delicious, warming meal around the fire.  Feel free to head off to your warm tent for a peaceful sleep or make friends around the fire with a drink or two, watching out for shooting stars above.

After a leisurely breakfast in the morning, take part in a fascinating bushcraft workshop led by a highly exerienced crafter.  Activities will be tailored to the group but could include a carving project, willow basket making or den building.  After a lovely lunch, spend some free time exploring the woods or creating your own crafts using your new found skills! Take in your peaceful surroundings and enjoy having time - time to read, time to reflect, time to play.  Dinner is another fun group affair with an opportunity to design your own pizzas and cook in the outdoor pizza oven. Having created your culinary masterpiece, gather around the campfire once more for some traditional storytelling as night draws in.

Enjoy a tasty morning breakfast followed by more woodland bushcraft activies such as foraging, wood whittling or tree recognition. pack up and head home late morning feeling refreshed and ready to plan your next magical woodland adventure!

Is a bushcraft break for me?

These events are about spending quality time with family and friends in the outdoors, learning new skills and switching off from the stresses of every day life.  Your mind will be in the present - not mulling over a bad day at work or worrying if there is anything in the fridge for dinner - and the rest of the world will just fade away. The challenges of a short break in the woods can be the very thing that makes it worthwhile - the fire that's tricky to light but you finally master the skill; the sudden rain storm that requires you find shelter for a while, or the soggy ground where you get your wellies stuck in the mud!  Glamping in the woods may not be for everyone, but we would highly recommend it to those with a sense of fun and adventure and those looking for a good old fashioned break from the real world.

How many people can sleep in a tent?

Our tents can sleep up to 4 people in a combination of single and double beds. groups or families of 5 people or more will need to book 2 tents.

What type of beds are provided?

Uur double beds are luxury, double height inflatable beds.  Many guests have commented that they are extremely comfortable and they have slept so well in the great outdoors! Our single beds are a mixture of inflatable beds and camp beds.  We provide one pillow per person so please bring extra if you're used to 2 or more pillows. Our duvets are a minimum of 10.5 tog and one blanket per person is provided. Please bring more blankets if you think you may need them. For health and safety reasons, we cannot provide hot water bottles but please feel free to bring your own.

Will I be cold?

There's no such thing as 'cold' - just unsuitable clothes!  There's no two ways about it, the great British autumn and winter can be chilly! But with suitable clothing and footwear (think lots of layers and thick socks!) along with the wonderful camp fire and your own, personal wood stove inside your tent, you should simply be able to enjoy the crisp bright air and smells of the woods.

What if the weather is bad?

Once paid for, all bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable.  Our bushcraft events go ahead regardless of the weather unless weather conditions such as snow or ice prevent access to the woods.  We never take the decison to cancel lightly but if we do have to cancel an event we will notify you via email and offer you the choice of either a full refund or a an alternative date. We will contact you email address you've given us when you booked so please make sure it is an email address that you check regularly. We will also update our Facebook page and also notify people via Twitter  to let you know if an event is cancelled.

Can you cater for my allergies or food preferences?

As these are group events, we cannot offer a menu of meals but of course we provide one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian option per meal.  If you are vegetarian or have any other specific dietary requirements, please let us know when you make your booking so that we can prepare adequately.  Please feel free to bring snacks with you.

What kind of toilets do we use?

High quality mobile loos, nestled into the woods. As a guide, there will usually be one loo for every 2 tents.

How do I shower?

At home before you arrive and again after you leave! Ditch the shampoo and shower gel just for a day and  immerse yourselves into the magic of the woods.

Is there WiFi?

WiFi isn't available but there is 4g signal for most networks should you feel the urge to return briefly to the digital world!

Can I bring my own drinks?

Of course, bring water and soft drinks with you and feel free to bring a beer or glass of wine or two to enjoy around the campfire of an evening.

How many other guests will there be?

There will be a maximum of 6 tents in the woods on any one Crafty Glamping break, each sleeping 2 - 4 guests.

Are you running future bushcraft events?

Absolutely! we will be publishing more autumn and winter dates very soon - watch this space!

We are dog friendly!
